Camille Monis

Turning complex requirements into clear, production-ready interfaces.

A project usually starts with a conversation: what do people need, and how can we make it work for them? At Setup Phils, I turn those conversations into wireframes and prototypes, then build the data-heavy applications and platforms behind them. Since 2023, I've seen that work through from the first plans to launch and production support.

Open to new roles: frontend, full-stack, AWS, database, AI, and lead roles. See why

Selected work

Speed, scale, and simpler workflows

Three client projects for BMI Global Education (part of Times Higher Education), built with my team at Setup Phils.

01 · Times Higher Education Events Website

Getting a five-minute WordPress site up to speed

What it is
The public website where students find and join Times Higher Education's online events and webinars.
The problem
The WordPress site was very slow — some pages reportedly took around five minutes to load, discouraging students from registering for events.
My role
Frontend developer on a headless WordPress migration to React, Node.js, and Express.
Key challenge
Modernizing a slow legacy site while keeping events easy to manage.

Built with: React · Node.js · Express.js · Headless WordPress · Redis

02 · International Student Fair Platform

One frontend for fairs in 40 cities across 18 countries

What it is
Websites where students find international education fairs and register to attend.
The problem
The old WordPress sites reportedly took two to five minutes to load, and every brand needed its own look.
My role
The only frontend developer: multi-domain rendering, performance, caching, security, and Cypress tests.
Key challenge
Changing one shared codebase without breaking any individual site.

Built with: Next.js · React · Headless WordPress · Amazon S3 · Cypress

03 · BMI Global Education Exhibitor Portal

Fewer detours through a large exhibitor portal

The first project where I led design, documentation, and UI/UX decisions.

User feedback

An exhibitor said they could complete the required information in a few minutes.

What it is
The business portal institutions use to take part in student fairs as exhibitors.
The problem
An outdated system with many connected modules — users hopped between pages to find things.
My role
Led design, documentation, and UI/UX decisions; built frontend in Next.js and React.
Key challenge
Simplifying a complex system without removing anything exhibitors need.

Built with: Next.js · React · TypeScript · Tailwind CSS · shadcn/ui · AG Grid · React Hook Form · Zod · Zustand · SWR · Tiptap · Sentry · k6 · Amazon S3 · Figma

A little context

Messy notes welcome. Let's make a thing.

My happy place: the whole journey, not just the pixels.

  1. 01

    Find the real need

Client goals first. User perspective next.

  2. 02

    Make it tangible

    Notes become wireframes, then prototypes.

  3. 03

    Bring everyone along

Agree the spec. Build together. Ship.

I'm Camille, a frontend developer who tends to bring a sketchbook to a coding problem. Not necessarily a literal one — sometimes it's a page of notes, a wireframe, and a lot of questions.

Before I ask “how do we build this?”, I ask “what are we trying to achieve?” I look at the request as a frontend developer, then as the person who will actually use it. That helps me plan the architecture and suggest another route when the original one gets tricky.

People I've worked with have described me as dependable, collaborative, and generous with what I know. That feels right: I'm happy to speak up, propose a design, or take a feature beyond the frontend brief. I enjoy working with clients on prototypes, then bringing business analysts, backend developers, and QA together so we all know what we're building and why.

Lately, AI has become a useful co-pilot in that process. It helps me move faster from an agreed specification to implementation — with the requirements and design still steering the work. I genuinely enjoy the whole journey, including the conversations between the sketches and the code.

Experience

The work behind the work

Frontend Developer

Mar 2023 – Present · Remote

I own frontend delivery for international education platforms, from client requirements and UI design to development, deployment, and production support.

  • Frontend architectureBuild projects from scratch with React, Next.js, and TypeScript; define the tech stack, UI structure, and reusable components.
  • Client collaborationTurn requirements into Figma wireframes, prototypes, and specifications; align feature decisions with clients, business analysts, backend developers, and QA.
  • Legacy modernizationLed WordPress migrations to React and Next.js, improving GTmetrix grades from C to A.
  • APIs and data-heavy interfacesBuild and integrate REST APIs with Node.js, Next.js, and Express.js; develop AG Grid admin tools, reports, and data exports.
  • Booking and paymentsDeliver stand and hotel booking, Adyen checkout, terms acceptance, and role-based admin workflows on the exhibitor portal.
  • Multi-domain and multilingual deliveryOwn the fair websites' frontend and language-aware registration flows for a platform that took over 110,000 registrations in 2025 (team-wide).
  • Testing and release qualityCreated Cypress end-to-end tests across 27 websites in five languages; added unit tests for date formatting and webinar sorting.
  • Production reliabilityUse Sentry to investigate errors, improve caching and data loading, and resolve form-state, date-handling, and browser-translation issues.
  • AI-assisted deliveryDirect Copilot coding-agent tasks, write repository guidance, and review generated code against specifications, Figma designs, and frontend standards.

Next chapter

I'm looking to grow into senior frontend and team-lead roles, deepen my backend involvement, and explore AI and AWS. More of the product, more of the system, and more chances to help a team ship well.

Roles I’m open to

I’m open to frontend and full-stack roles, plus opportunities to grow in cloud, data, AI, and team leadership.

  • Frontend & full-stack

    React, Next.js, Node.js, and Express.js in production

  • AWS & cloud

Amazon S3 on two client platforms

  • Database & data

    Data-heavy admin interfaces and APIs

  • AI-related work

Directed over 40 Copilot coding-agent tasks and wrote the repo's Copilot instructions

  • Lead roles

Led design, documentation, and UI/UX on the exhibitor portal
